DESCRIPTION
The Gio Ponti D.151.4 armchair, part of the Molteni&C Heritage Collection, represents a refined example of the design approach of the famous Milanese architect. Originally designed between 1949 and 1951 to furnish some of the most prestigious ocean liners and cruise ships of the post-war period, such as the Conte Grande, the Africa, the Oceania, the Conte Biancamano, the Andrea Doria and the Giulio Cesare, the D.151.4 is a perfect synthesis of elegance and comfort. Passionate about nautical furnishings, Ponti developed a deep knowledge of the sector thanks to his direct experience with these naval projects, which strongly influenced the design of the armchair. Characterized by enveloping lines and balanced proportions, the D.151.4 is now re-edited by Molteni&C according to the original drawings, with excellent materials and production techniques. The structure welcomes the user in a comfortable and sophisticated seat, revealing all of Ponti's sensitivity for shapes and details. Dimensions: H 75 cm, W 40 cm, D 74 cm.
